Denos C. Gazis

Dr. Denos Gazis has thrilled his IBM audiences as keynote, and banquet speaker on the subject of computer technology evolution, trends and future. He takes his audiences on an exciting exploration of the expanding universe of computer technology. The surprise is his relaxed humor and "user friendly" language which keeps the audience right there with him, by melting out complexities and making the exploration of computing fun for the amateurs and experts alike. Typical comments from his audience have been:
  • If high school students could hear this speaker, they would be hooked on science!

  • Very informative and entertaining. Does he do the Borscht belt on summer weekends?
  • Denos Gazis -- a mixture of Einstein and Bob Hope on the podium!

Dr. Gazis is equally at home speaking on management of technology and innovation, drawing from his experience as executive at IBM Research in its halcyon days as a leading research institution. Currently, he discusses the decline of advanced research at IBM under the policies of its current management. He will also often return to the subject in which he excelled as a young scholar, and talk about Greek history and culture and the lessons from the great classical Greek writers.

He has spoken to IBM customer executives including representatives of all the Fortune 500 companies. He has also spoken at corporate events of major companies (Aetna, Hancock, Nation's Bank), and has given major addresses and keynote speeches at conferences of scientific societies and professional associations (ORSA, ASCE, GUIDE, SE Asia Computer Conference, Scandinavian Computer Conference), and conferences of leading consulting organizations such as the Diebold Group, He has also lectured on Greek history and mythology aboard the Crystal Harmony cruise ship, while on a cruise around the Aegean sea.

Dr. Gazis is currently President of his own privately held firm, PASHA Industries,Inc., a consulting, research and development firm specializing in Computer Technology, the Internet, and Intelligent Agents. Prior to that, he served in high level management positions at the IBM Research Center, in Yorktown Heights, NY. In his various assignments at IBM Research, he had review, management, and strategic planning responsibility over a wide range of research and development in computer technology.

He has made personal contributions in applied mathematics, solid state physics, operations research, traffic theory, and computer science, and written well over 100 papers and two books on these subjects. He authored the lead chapters of two visionary books on the future of hardware and software of computer technology, published by MIT Press: Technology 2001: The Future of Computers and Communications, (MIT Press, 1991), and The Future of Software. (NET Press, 1995). He wrote a chapter in a third book published by MIT Press in 1998, on The Future of the Electronic Marketplace. Most recently, he wrote an authoritative book on Traffic Theory, published by Kluwer Academic Publishers in 2002.
